10 Steps to Cleaning

Step One

Prepare Equipment -to clean

Dress in PPE. Lockout / Isolate equipment/ Cover electrical components. Ensure obstructions are cleared. Ensure client removes excess product, plastic, wrapping, crates.

Step TWO

Remove Loose Soil -from floors & equipment

Use brushes, brooms and squeegees to remove loose soils from equipment. Soil to be placed into designated bins and containers. No soil to go down drains.

Step THREE

First Rinse – with water

Rinse with approximately 65°c water in ‘S’ motion from top to bottom of area/ equipment. Do not exceed rinsing distance of 200mm. Rinse floors / products towards drains.

Step FOUR

Foaming – the equipment

Foam equipment from top to bottom in a ‘S’ motion. Apply a light film of chemical only. Do not foam large areas (or foam will dry). Ensure to foam corners and loose parts. Wear safety goggles.

Step FIVE

Manual Scrubbing – mechanical action

Allow contact time for a minimum of 5 minutes and remove before drying on the surface. Fill a bucket with solution from the OPCS. Scrub equipment with solution and scouring pad. Frequently douse scouring pad.

Step SIX

Final Rinse – machine thoroughly with water

Rinse equipment and walls with hose. Scrub any remaining soil with scourers. Focus on corners and loose parts, underneath and behind equipment.

Step SEVEN

Personal Control – individual inspection of own area

Check all surfaces of the area for soil, grease, fat to ensure it has been removed. Focus on lose parts, blades, underside of equipment and frame work. Rectify all defects.

Step EIGHT

Quality Control – with supervisor

Supervisor check all surfaces of the area for soil, grease fat to ensure it has been removed. Focus on loose parts, blades, underside of equipment and frame work. Rectify all defects.

Step NINE

Sanitise – all surfaces

Replace all guards, covers, loose parts, foot stands. Hose sanitiser on equipment at least 15 minutes before production starts or micro sampling. Focus on corners, loose parts, underneath, behind equipment.

Step TEN

Refurbish – area to client requirements

Squeegee excess water off equipment. Focus to food contact surfaces. Remove lockout tags, locks, and water protection, plastic covers. Return PPE, Return unused chemical.
